Two weeks ago via NY Scooter Club’s forum, Nick over at Brooklynbretta announced his intent to close up shop to move to VT. Worse still is that Nick’s plan went into action faster than many expected and Brooklynbretta’s official last day was last Saturday.

Here’s Nick’s original posting over at NY Scooter Club:

Good day guys and gals,

As many of you have known for a bit, I’ve decided to move to Vermont, specifically the Burlington area and although its been asked many times, it’s not to start Burlingtonbretta icon e smile Brooklynbretta closes its doors. My family has moved there and I’ve fallen in love with it over the last several years and to me, it started to feel more like home than NYC has recently. The economy has made the decision easier of course, but it’s not the main driver for this change. The most important part of this announcement is that we are working with Scooter Bottega to handle our service, and continue to take care of our customers as we have here. Kevin, our head mechanic, is heading over there permanently to make this transition service wise… And I’ll be over there in May as well helping to set up Scooter Bottega’s space to handle the additional service load. For those of you who don’t know Robbie, Bottega’s owner, you’ll be more than pleased with his professionalism and candor, and he’s quite charming to boot. He’s going to be stocking all the things we have here, helmets, gloves, and accessories for modern and vintage bikes. All regular services for modern Vespas, Genuine’s, Sym’s, Kymco’s and all other top shelf scoots are going to be same day in same day out icon e smile Brooklynbretta closes its doors. Vintage Vespa and Lambretta are continued to be welcomed as well of course. Scooter Bottega is going to focus on offering the best service in NYC for the immediate term, and I would not be surprised if they are selling new scooters as soon as it makes sense to do so.

I have absolutely loved the relationships that we’ve built over the last 6 years …. and will greatly miss many of them. I’ve always appreciated the support I’ve received, and I thank you for every bit of it.

And yes, there will be a party at some point … icon e wink Brooklynbretta closes its doors

Best,
Nicholas

Needless to say we wish Nick every good fortune in his move, but this is a blow to the NYC scootering community. Nick is one of its best loved ambassadors. We look forward to supporting Scooter Bottega as they take care of the transition and hope you’ll do the same. NYC needs its vintage scooter support.
