Philly installing offical scooter/motorcycle parking
It’s official. Frustrated with the problem of bikers and scooterists parking on the sidewalk or alongside bicycle racks, the Philadelphia Parking Authority has begun the process of installing special zones for two-wheeled parking.
The zones will be charged at $1 an hour – that’s half the rate of cars. The zones are estimated to be completed city wide by February 2010 with scooters and bikes found parked on the sidewalks around these zones being ticketed as zones are installed.
In total, 12 zones are being installed in the downtown area.
With Boston also cracking down on scooterists recently, Will New York see similar action.
