No more NY test waiver wait
Those folks who have been through a local motorcycle safety Course as an alternative to jumping straight into the DMV motorcycle test may well have suffered the indignation of finding out after passing their three day course that they then needed to wait 6-8 weeks, or more, to receive the magical piece of paper – the test waiver – needed by the DMV to move on to a full M class license and get on the road.
Well we’ve just gotten some good news from New York’s Motorcycle Safety School. NY state is no longer requiring the wait period and is now allowing the school to put test waivers into the hands of those students who pass the safety course at the completion of the three course. Something NJ riders have been able to do for some time.
This is great news and it’ll get you on your wheels and independent considerably faster. I thoroughly recommend that all new riders take the three day MSF certified Basic Rider Course, but I did feel let down by the long wait before the paper came through.
