Titled and plated
Just got back from the DMW with plate and registration in hand for the PX150e. Took more hassle than I thought. This was a second visit after a failed first attempt last week when I was promptly pushed out of the DMV for now knowing the dry-weight of an ’85 Vespa off the top of my head, and worse yet, not having a counter-signature on DMV paperwork from the seller.
The DMV requested I go back to the seller for their signature because the scoot was purchased at “below market value” simply by being a used purchased. I thought the first rule of Capitalism was that market value is whatever I as the purchaser is prepared to pay. This argument didn’t wash with Mr. DMV, so hence the second visit.
Anyways, with registration and plates in hand and a shiny new NY State title landing in my mailbox sometime in the next 90 days I’m off and cooking.
Off to see Robbie at Scooter Bottega tomorrow to pick up the bike after it’s once-over service.
Also in hand? The Vespa owners bible, the Haynes Vespa PX workshop manual from Scooters Originali. The plan? First task, tackling the foot board rust before it cuts deeper into the frame. Photos soon.
