2009 has seen a competitive year in the scooter market. That’s good news all round, especially if you’re looking for a cheap scooter.

Not sure how we missed this (it was originally posted at the beginning of the summer) but Motorcycle.com has drawn up a short list of the top ten cheapest scooters available new in ’09. They’re all 50cc models, and they all originate from Asia, with manufacturer QLink dominating the list.

In fact, QLink tops the frugal list with its Axon 50cc which, interestingly, is not currently listed on the manufacturer’s website, but has an MSRP of $1,299.

The nearest QLink distributor to New York is based in PA. and we’re not sure you’d want to brave the city’s streets on anything less than 125cc but if you want cheap, you got it.

Head on over to Motorcycle.com for the full break-down (no pun intended.)
