Turn, turn, turn
No scoot into work today. The PX has flatly refused to flash a turn signal. They’re all dead. Front, back, left, right. Nothing, nada.
Pulled over to the side of the road this morning and checked the wiring behind the handlebar switch, under the horn cover and the connections to the 12V signal flasher unit which is tucked behind the battery. Everything looks good, but still no flashing. There’s typically a just-about-audible ticking noise from the flasher unit (or turn signal relay to some.) I can hear it, but it’s intermittent.
I now have a flasher unit on its way arriving Monday so unless I want to put myself at the mercy of the NYPD or oncoming traffic for that matter, there’ll be no scooting for me this weekend
I also have a spark-plug wrench coming so I can take a read of the plug. Since cleaning the carburetor, the scoot has been firing up better, but it’s still not firing on the first or second kick.
If the new flasher unit doesn’t work, it’ll be off to Robbie at Scooter Bottega for a look-see. I’ll post more when I get to the bottom of this.
