Tomorrow night (Wednesday April 21st,) the New York Motorcycle and Scooter Task Force is hosting a hearing for parking in the Community Board 4 (West Midtown) district of Manhattan. This is hot on the heels of a partially successful presentation to the CB2 district last week (Greenwich Village, SoHo, NoHo, Chinatown, etc.) which helped get two dedicated motorcycle/scooter parking locations approved as part of an upcoming pilot program. Partial in the sense that seven initial sites in the CB2 district were initially proposed.
If you’re serious about making legal scooter parking a reality, the NYMSTF needs your help. In particular, if you live or work in the CB4 district, your voice will lend additional credence to the argument.
The NYMSTF has identified the following West Midtown locations for the proposal:
- 15th St. at 8th Ave.
- 22nd St. at 7th Ave.
- 28th St. at 8th Ave.
- 29th St. at 9th Ave.
- 44th St. at 9th Ave.
- 48th St. at 10th Ave.
- 60th St. at Amsterdam.
At each location a car’s length is being proposed abutting an intersection.
Please attend the CB4 Transportation Committee meeting this Wednesday at 6.30pm at Holland House, 351 W. 42nd Street in the “Piano Room.” (Map) to show your support and learn more about upcoming NYMSTF presentations in your neighborhood.
