It’s Labor Day Weekend folks, and that means drink, music and shenanigans – en mass. This weekend NYC’s Cockabilly Records & John Thomas are putting together the massive 2009 Coney Island Rockabilly, Sideshow & Burlesque Festival. Four full days of over 100 Psychobilly, Rockabilly, Burlesque and Sideshow acts from around the world.

Modfather and DNA parent to all scooterists, Roger Daltrey is currently warming up for his solo tour, the aptly named “Use It or Lose It” tour hitting NYC at the Times Square Nokia Theater on November 20th.

Hot on the heels of the very successful sweaty, crowded Brooklyn Soul Festival, co-organizers Subway Soul have announced in partnership with Smashed! Blocked!, The Itchycoo New York Mod Weekender.

This coming Friday and Saturday night, the scooter friendly folks over at Subway Soul together with Dig Deeper and Eli “Paperboy” Reed are putting together a phenomenal two-day soul festival at Gowanus’ latest and greatest music venue, The Bell House.

You’re going to have a hard time convincing the New York Harbor Ferry service to allow you to take your scoot over to Governor’s Island on Sunday June 21st but you can be sure that you’ll be moshing alongside plenty of scooter fans at the other end.

Scooter fan, and Scooterist’s demi-god, Steven Patrick Morrissey turns 50 years young today. ‘Nuff said.
Apparently he has quite the bash planned, with a gig back in his twin-hometown of Salford/Manchester.

The fine folks at the New York Mod Squad Facebook group have given us the heads up that Scooterist favorite Jonathan Toubin will be spinning the decks at Beauty Bar tonight filling the air with Mod sounds:

The next night of 60′s Motown, go-go, and northern soul and all-round scooterists’ dance heaven has just been announced for next Friday, April 17th at it’s recently regular venue, Fontanas.

The Modfather is in town this month and will perform at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square on April 24.
