What happens when scooterists meet Snooki and The Situation? Read on for my experiences over the weekend heading down to Wildwood for The East Coast Classic.

I posted the other day about my use of downshifting, explaining that it’s a technique I use to help me with braking. I use this technique because the functionality of my poor little drum brakes, on the 1962 Vespa, are less than stellar. I failed to point out a few things that are key, if deciding to go this route.

Our friend Robbie Rhodes over at Red Hook’s Scooter Bottega has two beautiful bikes taking up room over at his shop that need to be cleared out to make way for more scooters.

We love us some Vespa PX here at NYCS Towers. While there is much debate over whether the PX is yet considered a classic scooter it is certainly agreed to be one of the best remaining ways to hop on a geared two-stroke stallion.

Here’s a scoot I’ve been passing every few days over the past couple of years that’s been slowly rotting away on 2nd Avenue. I’m normally passing by on two wheels so haven’t had an opportunity to snap a photo until now.

Take it from me. Don’t try and replace a clutch cable on your vintage scooter without removing the headset. It’ll only end in frustration. Read on inside.

OK, I realize that I have now officially become a whiner, when it comes to the weather, and it’s effect on my scootering. But I have to say, I was seeing the light (or the warmth) and the end of the tunnel, and now..

It’s official, Vespa can now officially collect on its 401K as it turns 65 years old today. We wish happy birthday to our favorite scooter marque.
